Of course I care about kids’ fashion – I am a mom, after all. But maybe not enough to read Vogue Kids regularly, or until now, not enough to attend a kids’ fashion show. That all changed this morning, when I got to see just how fun a children’s fashion show can be.

As it turns out, being neurotic pays off sometimes – I have this habit of showing up extra-early everywhere (at least when I am flying solo, a bit harder to pull off when you have the whole family to get ready and not just yourself!), and because of that this morning I managed to score great seats! Sitting in first row can be a little daunting when gorgeous amazons with mile-long legs are strolling past you in fabulous clothes, but when it’s adorable kids doing the walking, sitting in first row is quite a treat.

The show opened up with two kids playing Tetris on the big screen, and then more kids started walking out, totally cute and carrying Tetris pieces.

Then Tetris ended and it was just cute kids wearing the highlights of the Vögele Kids Spring/Summer Collection.

There was also a little eye candy for the moms, with Mister Switzerland accompanying a couple of adorable little girls.

The guests included Zazu Mall from Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar (which is sort of the German American Idol) and Swiss rapper Knackerboul.

But to be honest, the kids really took center stage – and what better way to showcase a kids collection than let the kids show you just how cute they look in those clothes, and how much fun they are having? As a mom, you can’t help but picture your own kids in those clothes, jumping around and having fun.

Another thing I loved? The kids did a fantastic job, but they didn’t look like miniature adults, they looked like normal kids. I love that. You just need to take a look at how they entertained themselves backstage to know that these weren’t little divas.

So next year you will likely find me in attendance at the kids fashion show again, and this time probably accompanied by my daughters, who would no doubt enjoy it as much as I did.

Have you ever attended a kids’ fashion show? If you are in Zurich next year around this time, I really recommend checking out the one at Fashion Days Zurich – the tickets are very affordable and it’s a weekend morning, so that you can bring along your fashionable mini-me for some bonding… over current trends.

For the second year in a row, Zurich is getting ready to show its fashionable side.

That’s right, the Charles Vögele Fashion Days Zurich are back!

I was there last year  for the Swiss Textile Awards and the Closing Show, and this year I will be attending at least two of the evening shows. Will you be there too? Here’s what you can expect:

What: Four days (and nights) of fashion, music, and VIP guests. Penelope Cruz will be there, so will Til Schweiger, German singer Sarah Connor, and Roberto Cavalli will attend not only to show his last collection but also as a Guest Judge for the 8th Annabelle Award, organized by the Swiss fashion magazine Annabelle.

Also: kids fashion, Swiss designers, a special evening hosted by Vogue Germany, and the Fashion Rocks evening (featuring Julien McDonald), plus of course the after-parties!

When: Wednesday, November 9 – Saturday, November 12 (for the individual show times, see event program)

Where: Puls 5, Giessereistrasse 18, Zürich (venue info)

Price of tickets: CHF 20 – 35 for the kids fashion show and Swiss designers, CHF 120-132 for all other evening shows, available for purchase here. VIP tickets can be purchased separately, here.

Take a look at the event schedule to find the shows you want to attend.

And if you can’t be there, I’ll be your eyes and ears!
