OOTW: a hint of sparkle

Blame it on Pinterest or on The Girls With Glasses, but sequins and shimmery things have really grown on me in the past few months. I have been looking at and craving all sorts of shimmery, sparkly, plastered-with-sequins items that I never would have considered wearing a few years ago – not outside of a Holiday party, that is.

But with the weather in Zurich being as grey and gloomy as it has been for the past few weeks, a little bit of sparkle seemed like just what the doctor ordered.

So for my book swap this week, I reached for a pale gray-and-silver sweater that I had bought a few years ago and had only worn a couple of times, and grounded it with a black skirt and my new biker boots… then added some purple, just for fun.

A hint of sparkle

Over it I wore the navy military coat I got last year from Dorothy Perkins, slung my studded bucket bag over my shoulder, and out I went.

Odd as it may sounds, it did improve my mood! Not to mention how much fun it is to wear something sparkly outside of a special occasion, just because. I think I need to shop for more sparkle to add to my outfits. For starters, I’m thinking this oversized sequined clutch:

How cute would it look with dark wash skinnies, ankle boots, and a big scarf? Love how inappropriate it would look to wear this in Zurich during the day ;-)

Next up: how about a classic sequin tank, worn over a thin turtleneck, like a vest?

Or maybe you’d prefer something barely noticeable… like a glitter heel on a classic casual boot?

Ah, I think I have gone mad for sparkle! You no doubt by now think I have lost my marbles to all that is shiny and glittery.

But tell me, in truth… wouldn’t a hint of sparkle be a fun touch to help you brighten up your day?

Ooooooh, boy. This is going to be a wild one. Remember Jimmy Choo for H&M? (which was pretty good, but probably not worth the insanity.) And then Lanvin for H&M? (which was sooooo over-hyped!)

Well, this is bigger than both of them. Put together. Get your wallets and your battle shields ready, ’cause Versace for H&M is here!

Ok, not quite. Details and prices for the entire collection were finally released today, but the collection won’t land until the 17th of November, and even then, it will be only in about 300 stores worldwide. Two of them in Zurich :-)

Squee! Or not? You be the judge.

Embellished silk dress, USD 199/CHF 299; silk scarf, USD 29.95/CHF 49.90; leather bag USD 199/CHF 249; bracelets USD 29.95-39.95/CHF 39.90-59.90

Studded silk dress, USD 199/CHF 299; rings, USD 19.95/CHF 29.90 each; bracelet (worn as choker), USD 39.95/CHF 69.90

Necklace, USD 39.95/CHF 69.90; silk dress, USD 149/CHF 199

Leather jacket, USD 299/CHF 349; silk top, USD 69.95/CHF 99; silk skirt, USD 69.95/CHF 99; men's belt, USD 59.95/CHF 79.90; jewelry USD 19.95-29.95/CHF 29.90-39.90

Sequin print dress, USD 129/CHF 179; necklace, USD 39.95/CHF 69.90

Me likey! Keep in mind that I posted the more… ehm… subdued looks. There are several much more adventurous ones, believe me.

Thoughts? I am really tempted by the black silk dress and the black and silver blouse and skirt ensemble, but in the end I will probably stick to accessories: I’m thinking one of the silk scarves, the studded men’s belt, the men’s leather cuff, maybe the miniature stud-embellished dress.

My Versace for H&M picks

Hmmmm… I think I’l have to set a budget for this. And go with a detailed list.

Now I just have to figure out how I’ll make it there, through the insanity and out the door with some merchandise without losing  any teeth in the process.

Think it’s worth the hassle? Want to come along?
