I’m almost afraid to say it for fear of jinxing it, but… IT’S SPRING! YAY!

I’m so glad the sun has finally come out and I can leave the house without piling on layer over layer to brave the cold. Instead, I now cannot get enough of color, and lighter neutrals paired with something fun, like maybe a touch of neon to brighten them up – ’cause it seems to me that the better the weather, the brighter our moods, and isn’t it fun to make our our clothes reflect that?

Still, one cannot just go out and blow a month’s salary on a new spring wardrobe. (Well, most of use shouldn’t, at least.) Does that mean we should feel deprived? I don’t think so.

Here are a few cute things that will bring some spring to your closet (and your step, likely!) without breaking the bank.

spring finds $100 and under
coral faux-leather jacket • military shirtdress • Kate Spade NY multi-strand necklace • chevron dress
Tarte make-up set • aqua clutch • ballet flats (more here)• ring • sandals

Spring finds for $50 and under
triangle necklace • fedora • scarf pale pink necklace
pumps • ear studs • belt (skinny version here) • sunglasses • lace top

I have already ordered that atzec print scarf and three colored skinny belts, but I am craving even more color. I might give in and order the Francesca pump above, it’s such a great basic heel for spring and summer!

Tell me… what are you itching to add to your wardrobe this spring?

By now you know  how much I love traveling. If it was up to me, I would hardly ever be home.
The thing that saves the coming home part from being a complete bummer is having something to remind me of the trip, something that will make me thing of that trip every time I wear it or look at it. That beautiful silver ring I bought from a street vendor in Teulada, the  hand-carved silver cuff my dad bought me one summer from a lovely Indian fellow, the ultra-soft lightweight scarf in the perfect shade of purple that my daughter Sarah helped me pick out on our last family trip to London… I love them all, no matter the value.

I love accessories. Love them. They can make a simple outfit stand out, which is more or less a life-saver in the life of any busy gal.

Unfortunately shopping for accessories at wide-distribution chain stores means you will sooner or later run into someone wearing.exactly.the.same.thing. And while it can someotimes go unnoticed, other times it is very obvious, especially when it’s a statement necklace piece or something that really pops out. For instance, within a couple of weeks I have seen this exact H&M necklace on five different girls while out and about in Zurich. Don’t get me wrong, I love H&M, but I really hate the cookie-cutter feeling.

On the other hand, finding awesome accessories can be time consuming and expensive. Which is where Boticca.com comes in.

I have loved this online boutique from the moment I came across it, with its huge variety of jewelry and accessories from small independent designers. Here you can find something for every budget and every taste, and you can bet you won’t bump into two more people wearing it in the checkout line!

Which is why I am excited to have scored a great discount for you:

All readers of Globetrotting in Heels will get a 20% discount on their entire purchase from Boticca, using the code Globetrotting20.

And they are running a special promotion right now that in addition to your 20% off will also give you FREE Worldwide Shipping if you order something today!

Who do we have to thank for this brilliance? Kiyan Foroughi & Avid Larizadeh, the founders of Boticca, made this kind offer and graciously answered a few questions about their awesome shop:

You have the most unique, interesting pieces! How did you come up with the idea for Boticca?

Kiyan: It all began a few years ago, while I was on a trip to Marrakesh and came across a rare find by an artisan in the bustling Medina. It dawned on me that such unique design talent was not easy to come by. It wasn’t fair that only a handful of tourists who happened to stumble upon this artisan would enjoy her designs. And so the idea of Boticca was born!

Boticca has an amazing selection. How do you choose which designers to feature?

Kiyan: Thank you! Glad you like it. The site is curated, meaning designers must meet the requirements of our team in order to exhibit and sell their pieces on Boticca. This team, called the Style Hunters, scours the world looking for the most unique jewelry, bags and fashion accessories from undiscovered designers and brands. Once we’ve brought them on board we work hard to ensure all the various criteria are met, so everything looks amazing and is as well-presented as possible.

What are 3 pieces you think every woman should have in her accessory arsenal, and 3 pieces that you would recommend for the upcoming spring season?

Avid: Where to begin? Having custom-made jewelry is the ultimate way of expressing something very individual, be it a simple ring or a more elaborate piece you design. Fine friendship bracelets are brilliant for a jewelry collection too; they are feminine & you can wear them all year round; they’re great for the office as they don’t look too heavy or full-on. And you should have at least one statement piece in your collection. Statement styles that are great for this season are collar necklaces & sparkly earrings.

Last but not least, what can we expect from Boticca in the future?

Kiyan: There are lots of exciting things to come, including a mobile app and international expansion through different language versions of the site. And you can keep expecting to find the most original undiscovered designer and brands!

So what do you say, shall we go browse and do some accessory shopping and take advantage of that 20% off? This dagger bracelet is really calling my name!

If you do take advantage of this discount, be a darling and pop in to share what you got, ok? I love shopping vicariously :-)

New Year, new Kate

January 9, 2013 accessories

Happy New Year lovelies! How is 2013 treating you so far? We have been having unseasonably warm weather here and even a couple of sunny days, so despite the fact that the annoying voice of reason is whispering to me that I should’t get used to it, because the cold and snow will be back before I [...]

A new destination for handbag lovers.

August 15, 2012 accessories

I love bags. I love them more than shoes, which is a lot. Given the chance (meaning: the budget) I would choose to splurge on a Balenciaga satchel before considering getting a pair of Jimmy Choos. So when I am asked to give my impressions on a handbag collection, what is there to say except [...]
