I love bags. I love them more than shoes, which is a lot. Given the chance (meaning: the budget) I would choose to splurge on a Balenciaga satchel before considering getting a pair of Jimmy Choos.
So when I am asked to give my impressions on a handbag collection, what is there to say except “Point me to the bags, please”?
Earlier this week, this lovely crossbody bag caught my eye.
Biba Gretal cross-body, £127
I love bright bags, they are the easiest way to brighten up a simple outfit when it’s too hot for a scarf – or even for statement jewelry, because when it’s hot and humid the last thing I want to wear is a chunky necklace or chandelier earrings.
So what do you do when you when something catches your eye? You click on it, of course. (I love how being on the internet totally indulges our need for instant gratification.) And so it was that I was taken to the handbag collection on House of Fraser. Until now, the extent of my knowledge on the store was hearing it mentioned in Bridget Jones and Confessions of a Shopaholic, but I have never actually been in one of their stores.
But once I saw their handbag selection, I knew I would get to know House of Fraser a whole lot better. For some reason I was under the impression that their store was more conservative and would appeal mostly to women with a work wardrobe, older fashionistas and those with a nice fat fashion budget (in other words, not me). But what I have found is that along with the Emporio Armani, Michael Kors, Lulu Guinness, Vivienne Westwood and so forth, there are plenty of affordable and totally adorable styles on their website, as well. Some of my favorite picks:
And then of course there are the “less affordable but too dreamy not to mention them” ones:
All in all, the majority of the bags are still a touch too conservative for my personal taste, but now that I have seen the more affordable options and the great sale offers, I will definitely be adding House of Fraser to my online shopping destinations.
What about you? Have you ever shopped at House of Fraser? What do you think of my picks above?
You can see their complete handbag line here.

I am going to have to check it out. I am wanting something new. Can’t believe I have been carrying the same bag for over a year! Think that may be a first!
xx
I totally hear you on handbags doubling up as accessories. Guilty of overusing that option.
