OOTW: one dress, two ways

I am a firm believer in versatile pieces. Pieces you can wear again and again, that you can use as base for a variety of looks – and while the basic piece stays the same, you vary the accessories and other items to make a completely different outfit.

When it comes to dresses, the LBD (Little Black Dress, for the uninitiated) is the usual suspect, but it’s definitely not the only one you can do that with. Choose a dress that’s in a flattering cut and shade, preferably knee-length or just above the knee, which is a length that is neither too casual nor too matronly, so you can easily dress it up or down.

I recently bought a faux-wrap teal dress, soft and comfortable and in one of those shades that make me happy. So naturally, I grabbed it to brighten up my mood on a gray fall morning.

OOTW: one dress, two ways - #1Miss Sixty Trench (told you about it here), Dorothy Perkins bag and dress, LaRedoute slouchy motorcycle boots, Satya necklace.

Then when I finally got home after doing all my errands and I was looking forward to a cup of tea and my pjs, my husband reminded me that we only had about 40 minutes before we had to leave for a dinner with friends. Aaaargh!

I wasn’t going to give up my cup of tea, so I just freshened up my makeup and quickly changed my outfit: everything… but the dress.

OOTW: one dress, two ways - #2Dress and jacket from Dorothy Perkins; flower headband and multi-strand necklace from H&M; L.A.M.B clutch; Satya pearl bracelet

Similar palette, same dress, different look. Which one do you prefer?

I really like that dress! I think I prefer the second look at least for myself because I have never felt comfortable with the dress/belt combo. It looks fabulous on other people though. I too love clothes you can wear many different ways…especially when traveling.

Hi Elisa I havea wrap dress but the wrap is attached, bought it from Wallis years ago, I just feel great the minute I put it on :-) I love both outfits, so clever how you mix and match.

Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog , The Market is amazing, all the fabulous fruit, and more amazingly is how they have samples . There was also a Bread stall that sold speciality breads, you could buy it by the slice :-)

I bought a few things but not to bring home, the only item I brought home was top I bought off the market , I needed some cotton tops as it was so hot. take care.Anne

They’re both cute but I think I’ll pick the first one — I can never say not to a cool pair of boots!
Thanks for your comment! I’m following you now — I’d love it if you wanted to follow too :)

I’d go with Option #2…but they are both great. Such the stylist you are!
