As much as I love trying something new and experimenting, when it comes to some things I’m a purist. Valentine’s Day is probably one of them. In Italy Valentine’s Day is reserved for people who are in love. You don’t send cards to your friends, not unless you want that friend to become something more.
So when I found myself thinking of the perfect Valentine’s Day date outfit, I pictured a pretty classic look: a trusty, super-wearable by all shapes LBD brightened up with a few red touches: a gorgeous clutch, a beautiful pair of heels. But because I am me, I had to add something interesting, and so I chose a pair of black leather gloves profiled in red and a whimsical silk scarf. And then of course, the ultimate classic: red lips.
An outfit like this needs little else as accessories go, except perhaps red roses and candle light

it’s beautiful. in the middle of refurbing a bunch of stuff in our house right now (doing the work ourselves) and i am desperately in the need of wearing something pretty…. love coming here and seeing what you put together.

Love the red peep toes! I was going to get all dressed up last night for a dinner party but opted for some embroidered jeans with a single red rose on one leg…it was the hit of the party and I didn’t even think about the tie between the rose and Valentines day before! Sometimes, I stumble into a good outfit.

Oh, now that would be quite an ensemble. I particuarly love that scarf and the gloves. Alas my valentine’s outfit consisted in my usual mummy uniform of jeans (covered in mud) Gap’s finest T shirts and chunky knits and, horrors, a fleece. And who said romance was dead?

Those shoes are simply stunning! I think I’m the only woman in the world without the coveted LBD. Maybe, it’s time to invest in one.
