Cool Find: custom-fit shoes and boots

by Elisa on February 15, 2010

in cool finds,shoes!!!,shopping

I love shoes. All shoes, but especially heels. And boots. No wait, I love flats too. Gah! I love them all.

Alas, I also have a few fitting problems when it comes to purchasing shoes for myself: I have wide feet, and muscly calves. That makes buying properly fitting shoes a bit of an adventure sometimes, especially because I prefer to do a lot of my shopping online.

Which is why I was super-excited to find the affordable custom-fit shoe/boot online shop DUO. The lucky UK gals in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Bath can also just go browse in the local DUO shop and get the fitting service etc, but for the rest of us, their online shop can be a real lucky break when it comes to shopping for well-fitting shoes.

Here’s how it works: you measure the circumference of your foot (at the arch) or, if you are buying boots, the circumference of your calf, and then search for available models based on size and circumference.

Some of the styles on the website are a bit too conservative for my taste, but others are definitely my cup of tea ;-)

I love the vintage feel of these shoes – these are the kind of shoes that you can really use to accessorize and add a special touch to your outfit, not just to color-coordinate or give you a height boost.

I really wish I had found the DUO online shop before I braved looking for semi-decent boots in Zurich, I would have saved myself a lot of disappointment. But not all is lost: they are having an awesome sale right now – up to 70% off [insert evil laugh here] – and mama is going to need a new pair of boots next Winter ;-)

So many of you told me they like the way heels look, but not the way they feel – so I thought I’d post this, to show you that it’s possible to have style and comfort all in the same shoe. That, and I just wanted to share the awesomeness.

Hmmn, maybe I’ll have to give it a go. If I get to measure my feet I *might* be OK!

My daughter is 5.5 and already has this female fascination with shoes. I don’t get it, but such is life.
