The end of 2009, that is. This year is heading toward the finish line. How did that happen? I don’t know if I am ready for 2009 to be over, but it’s not like anyone asked me for permission, anyway.
I may not be ready, may have a few too many resolutions that remained undone, but still, a bunch of cool stuff happened in 2009. As Maria said, these are a few of my favorite things:
1. I went to Blogher. And met some awesome, awesome people. People I admired from afar and now admire even more and people I actually now consider friends.
2. I got my own domain. And moved to Wordpress. The rest is history.
3. I gave away chocolate, skin care, a Clarisonic, aromatherapy candles, and a bunch of other lovely things.
5. I attended the taping of a popular cooking show.
6. I got interviewed, in an actual, real recording studio (how awesome was that? very.) and got an awesome camera as a gift. Also, made a bit of an ass out of myself (ok, that wasn’t my favorite part.)
7. I traveled: I visited San Francisco, Boston, Cape Cod, Lake Maggiore, not to mention I started the year in one continent and I’m ending it in another
8. Never mind travel, I lived in New York, dammit (granted, the suburbs, but still, 25 minutes away from Midtown? Totally counts in my book.) I saw Central Park change with the seasons, walked through Grand Central countless times, bumped elbows with tourists and locals under the lights and billboards on Times Square, felt overwhelmed by sadness at Ground Zero, saw Manhattan from Brooklyn and snapped shots of the bridge, shopped at Century 21, the Macy’s in Herald Square, the H&M on 42nd and Fifth, and countless Starbucks coffee shops all around the island
9. I finally saw my best friend again and we even managed to go out for dinner and movies. (Now we are both back in Switzerland.)
10. And while I don’t consider myself a superficial person, I do like stuff. So I want to add to the list a few fabulous things I managed to get my paws on. I scored (mostly bought) some fabulous additions to my closet: my favourite handbag, a gorgeous maxi dress that quickly became my favorite, a pair of Jimmy Choo strappy heels, a pair of peep-toes that elongate my legs and are actually *gasp!* comfortable, a pair of earrings so beautiful (mine are gold and amethyst) that I practically worship them, a silk scarf that is right up my alley, and finally, the flats that made me a convert.
Overall, not a bad year. Certainly not a boring one. So 2010, you’d better not let me down. You’ve got decent-size shoes to fill.

I wish you a happy new year! I can’t believe how quick 2009 went.
i can’t believe 2009 is almost over either. peep-toes elongate your legs? i really have to look into that now… (mine would have to be flats or almost-flats though.)
Oh, how I adore Century 21. Don’t get me started on the sample sales in NYC! Girl, I remember as a student at NYU counting down the days until the H&M flagship store opened on 5th, gawking at all the ads with Chloë Sevigny. I waited in a massive queue just to get in!
Anyway, great recap post of your very fabulous 2009. Here’s to an even more fabulous 2010!
Elisa, that sounds like a fabulous 2009!!! Just imagine how many wonderful things you have coming your way in 2010?
xox
Excellent list! #5 made me cry, of course. Here’s to a new year full of new adventures!

Sounds like a fantastic year!!!
The kind you would see in an adorable movie starring an adorable Hollywood actress who has an adorable apartment and adorable friends.
The only thing missing is the love interest that you have to start out hating at the beginning of the year and then accidentally spill your half non-fat mocha latte on while running for the same taxi or something.. I don’t know where that just came from.

Sounds like a damn good year to me!!
Sounds like a great year to me! And you were in my favorite city – San Francisco (okay, well I’m biased because I live there)
I have JUST jumped from Blogger to WordPress and am freaking out! I’ve lost most of my Feedburner subscribers and blah, blah, blah…I won’t bore you.
Someone come visit, I’m so lonely.

Hi, Elisa! It looks like 2009 was a pretty wild year for both of us! We did a lot of the same things – big moves, getting our own domains, moving to WP . . . and you know, I used to live in NY, too. And one more thing, I am definitely going to Zurich some time in 2010 – I’m going to tag along on one of the hubby’s business trips.
Glad you found my blog so I could find yours. It’s nice to meet someone who moves around as much as I do!

Aw, sounds like you had a fabulous year! I should look back at my year- and also to remember what I did! That’s great you got to go to Rachel Ray!

You’re doing the gratitude thing, I see. Very impressive.
I wish you all the very best for 2010. May it bite you in the ass less than other years. x

I know what you mean – I’m only 40 min outside Manhattan and don’t consider myself B&T. I thinki that refers to people with big hair and bad lip liner.

Looks like a pretty incredible year to me. Hoping 2010 (sounds crazy, doesn’t it?) fares just as well, if not better, for you!
I have a little something “fab” for you over at my neck-o-the-woods.

Wow, the end of the year has really crept up on me, too. It’s just crazy!
Sounds like a fabulous year! So glad I got to meet you at BlogHer and so sad that I likely won’t be going to the one next August – even though I have my tix already! Didn’t realize at the time that I’d have a three month old baby then!
Cheers to 2010!!!
