Let it rain, let it Fall

The weather has been pretty miserable for the best part of a month here. Rain, rain and more rain, with a precious few, tentative, teasing sunny days in between.

I am sort of moody to start with, and the weather just adds to it. I don’t have it down to a science or anything, but I am more likely to be in a bad mood when it’s bad weather – though one might argue, what is ‘bad’ weather to me might be good weather to some, so for the sake of clarity and argument, let’s just say that if you want to talk to me about something and I need not to be in a bitchy mood when that conversation happens, you might have better luck picking a sunny day :-)

Which is why I was tempted to call this post “I hate Fall” but that woulnd’t really be accurate. Because as much as I despise the grey days and almost constant rain that characterize fall here, there are also things I like about this time of the year. So in an effort to encourage more positive thinking or just to change my moods for the better, I made a list of things I really like about Fall:

- ankle boots and opaque tights

- pretty leaves

- persimmons and roasted chestnuts

- the excuse to stay inside and curl up with a good book

- the excuse to buy a new trench coat and a cute new umbrella-ella-ella :-)

How about you? How’s the weather where you live? Do you endure fall with a bad mood and little patience, or do you enjoy every minute of it?

I don’t love fall, but I do like fall clothes and boots. I don’t like fall because of what comes after… a brutal winter… especially where I live it… just brutal… so yeah… anyway… I hope you have a few sunny days ahead of you! xox

Am totally annoyed by the 65 degree weather. I mean, I know I should be glad it’s not cold or anything, but seriously? Shorts in November? C’mon!

Rainy here past few days and nothing makes me feel more like curling up with a fire and a good book that wet, rainy, fall days. Wish I had some fun boots to wear outside in puddles and put a huge smile on my face! Oh, and a way cute umbrella!

I grew up in New England and now live in San Francisco. I wish it would drop below 45 degrees so it feels like fall. Christmas to me is totally depressing. I want snow!

Hmm. Maybe I should think about moving…

I love Fall in New England, but it only seems to last a week before drab Winter arrives. Right now, 50’s is pretty nice, as long as it’s dry.
Ask again when I’m stepping through gray sludge everyday just to get to my car? Probably a different answer!

ok..it’s supposed to be Spring here, 3 weeks ago, everyone was complaining about how cool spring had started off. Only 18C day time temperature, well that’s all changed, this week we have had so far 7 days with the day time temperature over 35C, with at least 4 of those hovering in the 38C, tomorrow 39C & Sunday 40C. Night time temperatures have been 25c. The air conditioners are working at full force. I actually don’t like Autumn (its not called Fall here) & I hate Winter. The maximum temperature for the day is 14C (that is way toooooo cold for me). Nights can get to lows of 3 – 5c. We are lucky we don’t have the brutal winters that Loukia mentioned. But I still keep complaining. I think I would be in shock and never leave home with such cold weather. When it comes to fashion though, love the boots, coats & scarves. The weather certainly affects my mood. Think of me sizzling in Oz :-)

That sounds like everyday here in the UK. We are very used to the winter wear although my wardrobe deffinately needs updating as last year I was 8months pregnant.

At a first glance the picture looks like a sting ray.
Loving the blog.

Usually a miserable month, November in Toronto has been surprisingly pleasant. I remember last year as being rainy and gray and this one started the same but has been perfect for the last two weeks. Hope the sun shines! Love the boots and trench coats too!

I just felt cheated out of summer because it was pretty cold up here. I’m in Western NY. But I do love fall fashion and the cooler weather. As long as it’s not raining because it means frizz for me!

I find fall romantic. After the breezy sunny summer days fall comes after. If for lovers, summer is the great way to spend a vacation, fall is the time to have that getting comfy at home . . getting ready for the much cold season-winter. I love how autumn looks like. Leaves falling, how there’s death into something…because we know that there’s still life after this (after winter)

Fall is like constant PMS. But I’m trying not to give in this year. It’s just the fact that lovely lovely summer is finished that makes me want to weep.

You are much better than me! I hate fall. All I can think of is cold, damp, dead leaves. Actually my biggest problem with fall is that boating season is over. I do have to admit new boots are always a bonus.

Man, I couldn’t be more opposite from you on this! Fall is my FAVORITE season, second only to winter. Yeah, really. Summer is on the bottom of my list for several reasons: I can’t wear spaghetti straps, I can’t wear tube-tops, I don’t like my thighs sweating when they touch, and I just plain hate being hot. I like winter and fall for all the reasons everyone else seems to hate them: the chill, the cold, the sweaters, the dark, grey skies. What can I say?? I’m Irish :)

Having lived in Canada (just north of you in Montreal and Ottawa) and now living in Madrid, I can honestly say I am prefering Madrid. It is sunny most days and quite mild (highs around 70F or 20C last week).

When the sun is not on speaking terms with the city, I find I really miss it and curse the clouds that hide it from me. I never realized how much I loved the sun.
