Have you heard about The Great Interview Experiment? It’s a brilliant idea, and Neil can take all the credit for it! the idea behind it is that “everybody is somebody”, everyone has an interesting story to tell. Participating bloggers get paired up and everyone gets interviewed, and interviews someone else. I participated last year and had the good luck to meet two amazing gals. So when I heard about it this year i wasn’t going to let the change go by!
I was interviewed by Kealan of Kon-Kiki, who is really fun (check out her interview with Avitable
) and whom I am hoping to get a chance to meet next summer when I go to NYC!
I also had the chance to get to know Multi-tasking Mommy, who blogs at Circle of Life and was so gracious as to let me peek into her life and be nosey
Here is her interview.
1. Like many mothers (including myself), you decided to quit your job and be a full-time parent. Do you ever wish you could do both? (I know I do!) Now that you are a mom, what would be your dream job?
Great question! First off, I don’t regret for one single day, making the decision that I did to become a stay at home Mom (or full time parent as you put it). I guess I’ve never thought about doing both because if I was working out of the home, I wouldn’t be with my kids. I have dreamed about being able to stay home with my children for as long as I can remember. Once both of my children are in school, my dream job would be one that would let me work flexible hours so that I could be there for my children whenever they needed me (e.g. taking them and picking them up from school, taking them to extra curricular activities, helping them with homework etc. and staying home with them when they are sick). I would absolutely love to find a job that would let me make my own hours from home.
2. Your daughter sounds really fun, what with the questions about tampons and pretend play selling doll’s clothing
Is there anything that makes you nervous about your growing children? And on the other end, anything that you can’t wait to experience or share with them?
One thing that I look forward to being able to do with my daughter is going away with her on a “girls weekend”. I’m nervous about all kinds of things when it comes to my kids. I often think about them as teenagers and how we are going to handle them. There are days when I feel like I am at a loss with my 4 year old, let alone a 14 year old.
3. As a multitasking mom, do you ever manage to cut out some time just for yourself? What’s your favorite “me time” activity?
I don’t do things soley for me very often. Every day, I do my best to get online, as it is fast and easy and can be interrupted. My other hobbies (that I have trouble finding the time for) are scrapbooking and cardmaking. I also love to bake and am learning how to do various icing techniques for cakes and cookies right now.
4. What’s the idea behind your Virtual Book Club?
The idea? I was actually approached by a PR company who asked me if I was interested in starting up a Virtual Book Club. They sent me my first three books and I was to start a club. Because I don’t have that much time to read (ahem, I might just use the small bit of free time that I have to be on the computer), the Book Club is coming along slower than I had hoped. Having said that, the great thing about a VIRTUAL Book Club is that anyone can join in anytime and that comments aren’t time sensitive. You can read the book a year from now and still read the comments and add to the conversation. So go ahead everyone and join!
5. Speaking of books: what are your top 3 must-read?
Haha! It’s funny because you would think because I’ve started a Virtual Book club that I’m all up on reading, that I read all of the time and that I actually remember the books I’ve read. Unfortunately this isn’t the case. I love reading and I miss reading, but it has been a LONG time since I’ve actually read a fiction book. Lately, I’ve been all wrapped up in Parenting Books and Children’s books. Currently, my daughter and I are reading Stuart Little together, GREAT book! I have a great collection of parenting books and am glad to have the resources to fall back on.
6. What about blogs: what are your favorites?
I honestly never like answering questions like this because I don’t want to exclude anyone. So, I am going to take the easy way out and tell you the truth and that is…my favourite blog to read, the one that I read every.single.day, no matter what is my hubby’s blog: Tales From the Dad Side. I think that he is a fabulous writer and of course I love reading his take on our life together.
7. Let’s dream a little: tell me about the perfect day, the perfect meal, the perfect vacation. Go!
The perfect day would start with both of my kids having slept through the night and not waking up until at least 7:30. After that, my perfect day would be very simple. Spending some quality time with my family. Reading books together, eating meals together, maybe baking with my daughter, going for a walk.
The perfect meal….that’s a tough one! Right now, it would be one where I can actually sit down and enjoy the whole meal!
The perfect vacation would definitely involve somewhere on the ocean with crystal clear waters. My dream is to one day get to Hawaii!
Thank you for taking the time to share a bit about yourself with us!
